The statue represents an Oaxacan dancer performing The Feather Dance (Danza de la Pluma).
Background story:
Carnival celebrations are held all over the world and when Jean-Paul Lespagnard discovered the feather dancers in Oaxaca he couldn’t help but see a resemblance with the Belgian Gilles of Binche who adorn themselves with ostrich feathers on their heads.
